![]() ![]() Dear Book Devouring Horde, we have a long novella for you. Okay, I dragged it out as much as I can stand it. ![]() You know what would be nice? Hanging out with some old friends, the kind you don’t have to feed, or entertain, or put up for the night. The next holiday, aside from religious observances, is probably Valentine’s Day, and it’s kind phony anyway. You’ve survived the exciting pressure cooker of the holidays and now it’s just business as usual. And then the decorations have to be taken down, and leftovers that won’t be eaten must be thrown away. We all take a collective breath, although we will miss them. The clock strikes 12:00, the ball drops at Times Square, the champagne corks pop, and next morning we wake up, and this long marathon of fun and excitement is suddenly over. Then Christmas with more decorations, the tree, the glitter, the pressure and joy of gift giving, and then finally it’s the New Year with parties and hopes that the next year surely will be better than the last. Then Thanksgiving arrives, with turkey and football. First it is Halloween with decoration, candy, and scary movies. In US, the excitement starts about a month before Halloween. ![]()
